Events such as GlassCraft Expo provide participants an opportunity to try out a huge variety of classes, but the instructors of these classes are hampered in what they can offer by having to bring everything they need to the class. We thought it might be better if participating students instead took classes at the instructor's studios where all the equipment and supplies were already available. Instead of bringing students and instructors to a common place, we could bring the students to Victoria and take them around to take classes in the studios of different instructors. We also though it would be better if the instructors were exclusively working professional artisans that made their living doing what they'd be teaching. So, we created Victorian GlassFest. The 1st event in 2004 was relatively small but well attended with people coming from across Canada and the U.S. The 2nd was considerably larger with more students and a greater variety of classes. The one planned for September 2006 will be bigger and better.
